This is a very exciting NBA season with a bunch of story-lines from what's going on with the Los Angeles Lakers, to the continued dominance of the Miami Heat. Here's my top teams so far in the NBA...

- Number 1: MIAMI HEAT

Where should I start with the "HEATLES"?  The Miami Heat are 13-5 on this young NBA season.  That record is good for 2nd in the Eastern Conference.  They are right behind the New York Knicks.  (I am not going to jump on the New York Knicks bandwagon like everyone else.  Because they are the Knicks).  To be completely honest I can't see any team beating the Miami Heat in a series.  LeBron James is the best player on Planet Earth.  This guy controls every facet of the game when he is on the court.  He controls the tempo of the game, scores at will, drops dimes and grabs rebounds.  Wade and Bosh are playing some great ball this year.  Then they added guys like Ray Allen and Rashard Lewis in the off-season.  Once this team hits it's stride they will be impossible to stop.
Notable players' stats:

LeBron James: 27.6 points per game, 6.9 assists and 7.2 rebounds per game in 2012-2013
Dwyane Wade: 25.0 points per game, 6.2 assists and 5.0 rebounds per game in 2012-2013
Chris Bosh: 19.8 points per game, 2.1 assists and 9.1 rebounds per game in 2012-2013
THE BIG THREE IS DOING WORK! As expected. Let's see if they can keep it going.

The Oklahoma City lost to the Miami Heat last year.  Rather than sulk in defeat they went into the off-season with a plan to get better as a team and individual players.  I personally can't do anything but respect these young boys.  They are hungry and playing with a vengeance this season, starting off the season with a 17-4 record.  That is good for a tie for first place in the Western Conference.  They traded James Harden to Houston for Kevin Martin and Jeremy Lamb.  Some argue that they aren't really losing much and some say they have gotten better.
It is a long season to go so let's see what the young Thunder do this year.
Notable players' stats:

Kevin Durant: 26.3 points per game, 2.9 assists and 6.7 rebounds per game in 2012-2013
Russell Westbrook: 19.2 points per game, 6.9 assists and 4.7 rebounds per game in 2012-2013
Kevin Martin: 18.3 points per game, 2.0 assists and 3.4 rebounds per game in 2012-2013

The San Antonio Spurs are one word. Consistent.  I will keep it short and sweet with this one.  If you are a fan of a good brand of basketball then watch the Spurs.  Gregg Popovich is a great coach, PERIOD!
The Spurs have kept their constant big three in place (Duncan, Parker, Ginobili off the bench).  They have plugged players in like Kawhi Leonard, Danny Green, and Boris Diaw and continue to play at a very high level.  The Spurs are currently 17-4 on the season which is good for a tie for first in the Western Conference.
Notable players' stats:

Tim Duncan: 20.3 points per game, 3.1 assists and 10.3 rebounds per game in 2012-2013
Tony Parker: 16.9 points per game, 5.9 assists and 3.0 rebounds per game
Manu Ginobili: 15.1 points per game, 3.9 assists and 3.9 rebounds per game in 2012-2013

I am pretty sure that some people will disagree with my list.  And that is perfectly fine.  Let's get the debate going!  Feel free to comment here or find me on Twitter (@Rparksjr85)
